So Boring

I am a really boring person. I have seriously not had anything fun to post about for quite some time now. The only thing I have going on right now is my daily ritual of bathing, feeding and putting my kids down for naps. But let me tell you...I LOVE IT! I couldn't ask for more. Each day my kids do something new and they are getting smarter and smarter. Riley has become quite the little stink. Things that I used to let her do (like use crayons without supervision) are not a good idea anymore. Yesterday she decided to color her bed comforter (which is mostly white). As mad as I was I put spray and wash on it and stuck it in the washer only to pull it out and find the batting all clumpy in it now. So, needless to say I will be looking for a new comforter because it looks like we are hiding socks under it. The crayons you ask? Hidden she is no longer allowed to color without my supervision. This is life and I am greatful for every minute. Hopefully I will have something fun to post soon. But in the mean time this one will have to do.

The Hicken Family

Tonight we were visiting with Jason's family and his little bro Taylor was complaining that he wasn't anywhere to be found on our blog. I realized this and was all too sad. Problem is I don't have a picture of him to put on here...so sorry Tay I will be sure to get one soon and make sure that you are on here!!! I did find this picture of Grandma Hicken holding Boston though and thought it was too precious. We love you guys and I need to be sure to bring my camera to get some pictures of you! My apologies.

LET IT SNOW

Jason is such a good dad. The other day when it was snowing so hard he came home to a driveway which needed to be shoveled before he could get his car in. So he began shoveling. Riley loves to watch him out her window. She turned to me and asked if she could go out and play in the snow. I asked Jason and he said it was okay he would watch her. By the time I had her dressed in her clothes and out the door he was pretty much done. He was so sweet and told her he would stay out with her and make a snowman. They spent the next hour playing in the snow. What a dad. He didn't even want any hot chocolate. But Riley sure did!!

Reason for blogging at 1:00 AM

THE PROOF
THE EVIDENCE
This is what happens when I blog while Riley is awake. I had asked her three times to put those back and thought she had finally listened. Ten minutes later I realized it was way to quiet and went to check on her...imagine my surprise. This picture doesn't even do justice to the chocolate that was all over my comforter and her clothing. From now on I will be doing my blogging while she is asleep.

I'm such a dummy

I am a complete idiot and forgot to take my camera when Riley got her tubes. She was such a troooper and looked so cute as they took her away in the wagon. The procedure went great and hopefully she can now have a pain free future. Luckily I am now getting some sleep at night, other than the fact the Boston for some reason has now decided he needs to eat three times each night!! Just when you think you have it down they throw you a curve ball! We love you Riley and are so glad that you will hopefully be getting to feel better now!

Happy Birthday Jason

My husband is now officially an old man. Jason turned 27 on the 1st. We had a fun day, we went out to eat that afternoon at El Matador (his favorite Mexican food) and threw a birthday bash for him that evening with family and friends. All in all it was a great day. Other than the fact that our sweet neice Kenzie was in the hospital with RSV and we missed the Jordans. But she is doing better now and we are so greatful. I love you Jas I hope you had a happy day!

Christmas Outfits

Every year for Christmas my mom has always bought the grandaughters Christmas dresses. Well...this year proposed a challenge for us. I threw in a little boy. Have you ever looked for a 0-3 month church outfit for a little boy??? Next to impossible to find one that is halfway decent or doesn't cost a zillion dollars. Well, finally Jason and I found one at Wal-Mart (where I had looked a thousand times) I snabbed it up and got it! It is so cute with its little vest and all. Also Riley's dress was absolutely darling and she loves wearing it!

FAMILY TRADITIONS

This is what happens when you have so much fun....

Every year my family makes gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. We started doing this when I was about five years old. Back then we used the little milk cartons you get from school to help us but we have come a long way. This was a tradition we started with my Grandma Nicholls and we have always loved it. We have decided to carry it on even though she is gone. It is a good way to remember her. Riley was so fun to watch she loved making her house with the help of her daddy. He is such a good dad she loves him so much.

The family relaxing after the big event.
My Uncle Doug his wife Esper and their son Ray with Riley. Mom is the frosting lady.
TJ and Kylee were a little but late...but still made a great house
The big picture....
My finished product....
So excited to start.... Tada...this is it. They did a great job!

Time Marches On

I can't believe how fast time flies. I ran into an old friend today at the mall and it was crazy to think we had kids let alone that my baby girl is almost three! It blows my mind. In light of this thought I took some really cute pictures of my kiddies the other day and I wanted to post them. They both look so big to me in these pictures, even since the last post I did.

Happy Birthday Dee Dee

Today is my mom's birthday! Happy birthday mom. I hope you had a great day. I love you, thanks for all you do. You are a great mom and a wonderful Grandma. Thank you for your example and determination to do what is right. I am so blessed to have a mom like you!

CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

So for family night on Monday we went to Christmas Village in Ogden and saw the lights and talked with Santa. Normally Riley is terrified of Santa. She was freaking out a little while waiting in line but when we got inside I think she could tell there was no where for her to escape to, leaving her only option to sit on his lap and get that candy cane! Now she loves him. She loved the lights and was so much fun, she ran from one display to the other she couldn't get enough. I love that she enjoyed it so much it makes me want to do more fun things with her!

Boston's Blessing Day

On Sunday we blessed Boston. It was such a nice day and we had a great time with our family and friends. Although, my basement isn't quite as big as I think when you get a whole bunch of people in there! Thanks to everyone for your support. Here are some cute pics of him in his darling blessing outfit. Also, Boston is named after his uncle Nate who passed away 12 years ago in a car accident. He was Jason's older brother and the oldest child in their family he was only 16. It is very special to us that Boston get's to carry on his name. For a present Jason's mom brought us a small blue blanket with a note on it. Coming to find out it was Nates blanket. Very very special. Thanks Robyn, it is very special and we will hold it very dear.

Miss Independent

Riley has recently decided that she can do anything and everything on her own without my help. It is really frustrating for me because I like to be in control of EVERYTHING. Well, she won't let me she throws an absolute fit. In this particular picture it took her ten minutes to get into her jammies...talk about annoying. I am learning some patience though so it is good for me. I had to take a picture because she was so determined that she was going to do it, she wouldn't even let me help her when she got stuck! She's so darn cute.
