Boston's First Solids

So we decided to go ahead and start Boston on solids. I have since decided to wait. We tried for three days and he doesn't really care for it. He is still a tad young so I will try again later. But I thought these pics were too cute not to share.

My Sweet Hubby

So the other day I was having a "poor me" day. You know, one where I felt like I do it all and I never get a break. It had been a hard couple days with the kids (Riley seems to be getting smarter and naughtier as well and Boston was throwing me off schedule) and I have decided I am a little bit OCD. Needless to say I was in tears and felt like no one cared. Well, I was wrong. Jason came home from the gym (I didn't go because Riley was bad and that was her punishment no gym nursery, which she loves by the way) and he brought me a rose and you guessed it, my fave Diet Dr. Pepper. Diet Dr. Pepper is a rare commodity for me these days since we don't stock it in our house and I am not at work to get one anymore I only get some when we go to my mom's, the grocery store, or I am lucky enough to have Jas bring me one home from work. It made my day just what I needed. Of course by the time I went to take the picture my drink was gone. I think I had it down in two minutes flat!! Thank you babe, I LOVE YOU!!!!!

Who needs toys????

I have decided I am no longer buying toys for my kids! Today was my cleaning day and this is what they did to entertain themselves. Riley made a train out of the stools while I was mopping the floor. She pulled out all her stuffed animals and made them passengers! It was really cute she kept saying "all aboard" and "toot toot". Then while I was folding the laundry I put the socks in a pile next to Boston. He kept grabbing them and was having so much fun putting them on his face, he would hold it up look at it, laugh and then put it back down on his face. It was too cute.

My Fun Creation

So I have taken up this hobby, I guess you would call it, of making diaper cakes. I have done two of them so far for some baby showers. This is a picture of one I did for my cousin Stephanie's shower we had on Saturday. I really love to do them it is a good way for me to relax and have some time to myself. I stay up late at night to do them so that the kids are asleep. I love to be creative so this is perfect for me! Also, there are some pictures of Riley at the shower. She put a balloon up her dress and was pretending to be pregnant, she is so funny lately.

Happy Valentine's Day

Boston and all his goodies
Riley and her fun stuff
All in all we had a great Valentine's. Jason's little sister MiKayla came to stay with us and we had a good time. Riley loves her Aunt "Kayla". I hope that now that she is gone I will be able to handle both kids!! She was a big helper. Saturday morning we had pancakes and did Valentine's gifts. Jason and I got Riley a little dog with some candy and a little dog for Boston. Boston loves to chew on his! Both kids got a little dog and a shirt from their Grana and Papa (Jason's parents) as well as Valentine's shirts from Dee Dee and Pa ( my parents) they also got Riley a gift card to MickyDonalds as she calls it! They figured that Boston wouldn't be so excited about one of those! That day we went to the mall and got Riley's ears pierced. Yes, I was excited but sad at the same time. This was her present for being potty trained, she has wanted them for a while now and that was the incentive. She did great she didn't even flinch. What a brave girl. That night Jason and I were able to sneak away to Maddox while MiKayla watched the kids for us. We only had three hours since I had to be home to feed Boston! But it was great. We hadn't been alone together for quite some time since my baby won't take a bottle and it was much needed! On our way home we rented Madagascar 2 and watched it that night. We had a fun day! Thanks for sharing it with us MiKayla.

Play Group

We have a play group that gets together every month. Riley loves it and has so much fun getting together with her friends. I also enjoy the time with my friends so it works out perfect! This is Kenya, Mayli, Mason and Riley at the Treehouse Museum last month. Mason kept calling the firetruck a monster truck! It was so cute. This month we decorated Valentine cookies thanks to Crystal's hard work and planning. We were able to do it at the church which worked out perfect! Riley had so much fun.

Such a Girl

Every time I do Riley's hair she insists that I take a picture of it. She is such a ham, she loves the camera and the attention. Here are some corny pictures of her attempting to look normal when I take her picture.

Diddy Dum Diddy Do

About a month ago we bought Riley a Beta fish. This is not the first fish she has had, unfortunately I am not able to keep golfish alive so we went for the rugged tough Beta. She is so cute with him. She named him Diddy. She talks to him all the time and she loves to help feed him. Yes, we keep him in her room she has never bothered him before. Until tonight. We had just come home from the gym and Jason and I were in the kitchen getting dinner ready when I hear a super loud crash. Normally, I would wait to see if I heard crying but for some reason I went running into Riley's room only to find that the fish tank was not on her dresser...it was on the floor. Diddy was lying there helpless as I screamed for Jason. Lucky for Diddy Jason is a fast thinker and had me get a cup of water to put him in while Riley sat there bawling hysterically. We did get it cleaned up and lucky for her Diddy seems to be doing okay. She has been warned that if she touches the fish tank again, well we didn't really have a super great punishment because I am not about to commit fish murder, but she knows that she better not do it again. What a night. My camera battery is dead so I was unable to get a picture of the enormous mess. Never a dull moment with a three year old!

So Boring

I am a really boring person. I have seriously not had anything fun to post about for quite some time now. The only thing I have going on right now is my daily ritual of bathing, feeding and putting my kids down for naps. But let me tell you...I LOVE IT! I couldn't ask for more. Each day my kids do something new and they are getting smarter and smarter. Riley has become quite the little stink. Things that I used to let her do (like use crayons without supervision) are not a good idea anymore. Yesterday she decided to color her bed comforter (which is mostly white). As mad as I was I put spray and wash on it and stuck it in the washer only to pull it out and find the batting all clumpy in it now. So, needless to say I will be looking for a new comforter because it looks like we are hiding socks under it. The crayons you ask? Hidden she is no longer allowed to color without my supervision. This is life and I am greatful for every minute. Hopefully I will have something fun to post soon. But in the mean time this one will have to do.

The Hicken Family

Tonight we were visiting with Jason's family and his little bro Taylor was complaining that he wasn't anywhere to be found on our blog. I realized this and was all too sad. Problem is I don't have a picture of him to put on here...so sorry Tay I will be sure to get one soon and make sure that you are on here!!! I did find this picture of Grandma Hicken holding Boston though and thought it was too precious. We love you guys and I need to be sure to bring my camera to get some pictures of you! My apologies.

LET IT SNOW

Jason is such a good dad. The other day when it was snowing so hard he came home to a driveway which needed to be shoveled before he could get his car in. So he began shoveling. Riley loves to watch him out her window. She turned to me and asked if she could go out and play in the snow. I asked Jason and he said it was okay he would watch her. By the time I had her dressed in her clothes and out the door he was pretty much done. He was so sweet and told her he would stay out with her and make a snowman. They spent the next hour playing in the snow. What a dad. He didn't even want any hot chocolate. But Riley sure did!!

Reason for blogging at 1:00 AM

THE PROOF
THE EVIDENCE
This is what happens when I blog while Riley is awake. I had asked her three times to put those back and thought she had finally listened. Ten minutes later I realized it was way to quiet and went to check on her...imagine my surprise. This picture doesn't even do justice to the chocolate that was all over my comforter and her clothing. From now on I will be doing my blogging while she is asleep.

I'm such a dummy

I am a complete idiot and forgot to take my camera when Riley got her tubes. She was such a troooper and looked so cute as they took her away in the wagon. The procedure went great and hopefully she can now have a pain free future. Luckily I am now getting some sleep at night, other than the fact the Boston for some reason has now decided he needs to eat three times each night!! Just when you think you have it down they throw you a curve ball! We love you Riley and are so glad that you will hopefully be getting to feel better now!

Happy Birthday Jason

My husband is now officially an old man. Jason turned 27 on the 1st. We had a fun day, we went out to eat that afternoon at El Matador (his favorite Mexican food) and threw a birthday bash for him that evening with family and friends. All in all it was a great day. Other than the fact that our sweet neice Kenzie was in the hospital with RSV and we missed the Jordans. But she is doing better now and we are so greatful. I love you Jas I hope you had a happy day!
